March 13th, 2015, I woke up to get ready to start a normal day, my sister slept over my house to take me to acupuncture in Vero Beach. We made breakfast and got our kids in the car and headed towards Vero Beach. We took A1A the trip there, and it was beautiful! Mary Rainer called me when we were on our way there to confirm us meeting at 2 pm for an ultrasound, because I was 1 week past due. When she called, I told her I thought I was having Braxton hicks, because I felt slight tightening in my abdomen.

We arrived at Vero Community Acupuncture, and as I was getting that done, they started to feel a little stronger. Just enough to make me tense up my legs while I was sitting down. I finished up the 30 minute acupuncture treatment (loved it by the way!) And had my sister come back to pick me up. We had some time to kill before meeting up with Mary, so we stopped at the beach on the way back, and walked around for 30 minutes (got my last pregnancy picture taken by my sister lol) right through contractions!

"...We stopped at the beach on the way back and walked around for 30 minutes (got my last pregnancy picture taken by my sister lol) right through contractions!"

So we left there and met up at Jill’s house for my ultrasound. When I got there, I told her I was having contractions already so they checked to see how dilated I was. I was 4 cm and about 90/100 effaced. So no need for the ultrasound at that point. I was just going to go home and call Mary when I was ready. I left there to go home approximately 2:25 and got to my house at 2:40. They were much stronger by this point, so I called Mary, and she left to come to my house.

I was just trying to find a comfortable spot. I was super hot so I stood in the shower with cold water running, and got our after a minute because I didn’t want to stand. Then I laid down on my bed and that was horrible, so I got up and leaned over my bed. The next contraction, my body started pushing involuntary and my water broke. So I just kinda dropped my towel over it, walked back in the bathroom, and sat on the toilet (the most comfortable stop ever! lol).

"The next contraction, my body started pushing involuntary and my water broke."

I yelled for my sister to come to the bathroom and call Mary again. She called her at 3:18, because at that point my body was pushing by itself. I put my hand over my vagina and told her I felt her head crowning already and she needed to hurry up! The next contraction she literally flew out. My hand was on her the whole time, but but she did come out into into the toilet, so my sister grabbed her and handed her to me.

I put Leilani on my chest and she started crying! Thank god!!! Mary was on the phone the entire time talking me and my sister through the situation, but I couldn’t focus on what what she was saying. Next thing I know, my placenta was coming out.

Mary told Anna to grab a bowl for it. We put it in a bowl, and then I asked my husband to lay some of the maternity pads over the bed so I could go lay down. My sister helped me walk into my room room and lay down on the bed. And I believe it was a few minutes later Mary finally arrived! ! She checked my bleeding and to see if I tore (I in fact did but not bad) and then we clamped the cord and my husband cut it. I got some stitches and ate some fruit and a Publix sub, so delicious! Then we cleaned Leilani up, I rinsed off, and we came back into my room to weigh her and she was 9 lbs even and 21 inches!

"...We came back into my room to weigh her and she was 9 lbs even and 21 inches!"

The overall experience was so surreal to me! I never anticipated it would all happen so fast! I mean 6 cm in about 45 minutes. And my midwife not making it on time!! It was something I’ll never forget and thank god he watched over us and kept us safe.
